Hi there – I have not written the newsletter for awhile but here goes for 2012!

Sunday – Jono Turner is speaking Come along and hear Brook’s dad! Jono and Mary Turner really have Blueprint on their hearts and always have a challenging word.

Passionfest is on 24 – 26 February. Join a bunch of other BPers in the bush. Let Lauren know if you’d like to go or if you need a lift. She is on 0211507488 . It’s $75. If you need info contact Scottie at scott@zeal.org.nz

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Jesus at the Seven’s?

The following was written by my good friend Bruce Bell who pastors the Olive Tree church at Petone. I agree with what he says 100% so have copied his article in full below

Watching the Sevens last weekend, sadly from my living room and not live, reminded me how much we as human beings love to celebrate. The creative flair with which people take to their costumes and the joyous atmosphere are surely unrivalled. It is like everyone saves it up all year long and it just explodes in colour and noise during the Sevens. Most are there not for their love of rugby in its abbreviated form but simply because it is such a good time. Hence the old tag line – “if you get bored you can watch the rugby.”

Should I go next year I think it would be fun to go with a group of people all dressed like Jesus. Firstly, because it should be a pretty good conversation starter, but also because I think Jesus had a very clear understanding of this side of human nature. While this is personal speculation and not deep theology I think Jesus would have loved the Sevens. He had a great sense of humour. He often spoke of eternal life in terms of feasts and celebrations. He was decried by the religious leaders of the day because he attended too many parties. Of course we know that while he had no problem mixing with sinners he did not buy in to their behaviour (and hey, not all the behaviour at the Sevens is good) but instead, kept himself apart in that one dimension. But all in all, Jesus liked to be where people were and he was not at all adverse to joyous celebration. As Christians (literally “little Christs”) I think it does us good to remember this side of Jesus and we don’t have to wait for sporting occasions or other events to seek to find the joy in life. Wouldn’t it be great if this is what we were known for?

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

See you soon!

Jonathan

Hey ya,

How good is it to be back and worshipping together again? It feels like it has been too long!

This week at Blueprint

This Sunday we have Rolf Hart coming to impart some wisdom to us. Come ready to receive what he has been seeking the Lord for us as a community and come ready to be able to bless him.

Direction for Blueprint

As was mentioned on Sunday, we believe that God is calling Blueprint to something new. We don’t believe this is a fresh coat of paint or starting something new for the sake of change, but really staying in tune with what God is doing in us and through us. We believe that God is leading the community not just the leaders, and therefore will be speaking to many people.

If you feel like God is speaking to you about Blueprint please send an email to blueprintchurch@gmail.com or text Jeremy on 027 463 4892 or Will on 027 466 8299.

Also, even if you have some suggestions of things you would like to see Blueprint doing more (or less) then fire them along too.

Lastly, coming up next month is…

Passionfest
It would be great to get a bunch of us along to again to Passionfest this year!

Find out more about it here:http://www.urbanvision.org.nz/passionfest

or have a chat with Scott about it.

~~

P.S. Happy Birthday Anna!

Hey team,

Hope you have all been having a great summer, while some of you may have been playing in the mud and seeking attention from new audiences in the Coromandel, or getting hospitalised while sneaking into events you have already paid for, or spending New Years Eve in a car – amidst all that, I trust that you have been learning a lot about God as revealed in nature!

So it’s Blueprint’s first service back tomorrow, come along at 5 if you can to catch up with everyone and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Service starts at 5.30. Also, we might be sitting on the floor so bring a cushion if you want to be comfy.

Lastly, and sadly, tomorrow night will be the last ever Goatshed roast. So it would be great to fill the place with more people it has ever had, and all get a little “Romaniac”.

Hey church whanau!

First up: Christmas Dinner Sunday 18th, don’t forget, this is a pivotal time in Blue print’s year when we acknowledge, encourage, share and delight in each other. Good food and live entertainment! Please get $$ to Jeremy ASAP, just $25. It’s going to be amazing!

Need to confirm by Monday the 12th.

Where: Zeal
When: Sunday 18th, 5:30pm
Cost: $25

Secondly I wanted to write about some of the things I have been pondering in relation to Dalton’s message, some of the themes running through the year – unity, worship, surrender, and time I’ve spent with God and learning about God recently. My hope is that we don’t lose our daily disciplines or space with God as we join the joyful madness of our glorious families, wrapping paper, and sunburn.

I was really challenged by the call to know God with depth and longevity, how would it look to be so connected to God that we proclaimed as Paul “to live is Christ to, die is gain” (Philippians1:21). Paul’s depth of connection is clear. Overwhelmed by the hugeness of this call I found (thanks Monica), a list of 12 ways in which we can know God. One of the reasons it appeals is because often when I have felt disconnected from God, I have been told simply to read the Bible and pray; whereas this list sheds light on complementing avenues to seek God within.

This in mind I came across a youtube clip by Kim walker in which she speaks of worship as ‘our connection to God’ and all the methods we use – music, art, dance, are simply expressions of this. She speaks of the way I often feel, the need to build a worshipful connection at a Sunday service. But how would it be if no building was needed as we had spent the whole week nurturing ourconnection to God. My challenge and prayer for you, as well as myself is that we would nurture ourconnection with God daily. I wonder if then like Peter, would our shadow bring healing, like Jesus so connected to his father (he does nothing without his father saying it) a woman is healed by reaching out to touch him.

May you be blessed this Christmas as we remember the gift of Christ, a baby in a barn, the word as flesh, and rejoice. I praise God for the connection made possible, and for you my church family.

Blessing, Abby Shaw

Hey Whānau – Jeremy here writing from a little retreat in the sunny Hawke’s Bay!

We were fortunate enough to have Dalton with us last week; it was an long intense message (probably a little too long, which I apologise because I told him to go for it!); however it was a message where we can easily focus on the challenging things, and miss the point, which is, the beauty and worth of Jesus!

Here’s a reminder of his four points:

1. God’s glory and our joy are not at odds (though the source of our joy can be). (John 17:1; 24-26; Phil. 1:19-25)

2. Our joy in God is perfected when we consider death as gain; that is, when Jesus means more to us than the pain of loss and the pleasure of gain. (Phil. 1:19-25; 3:7-10)

3. Death is not gain until Christ has become our life; Christ has not become our life until death is gain.

4. The Church in the generation of the Lords return will not “love not her life even unto death.”

For those of you who missed the message, it will be available on the website this weekend; but to sum up the message; here is a quote that Dalton gave us from Amy Carmichael (1867-1951, a missionary in different parts of Asia, mostly India, for over 55 years):

“The night I sailed for China, March 3, 1893, my life, on the human side, was broken, and it never was mended again. But He has been enough.”

—

Blueprint Christmas Dinner

Just a reminder that Blueprint’s Christmas Dinner is coming up in three weeks on the 18th of December. It is an amazing time to celebrate the year together, and to look forward to the next year. The cost is $20 a head, and we will start putting names down and collecting the money this Sunday!

If are keen to help out in anyway to make this an amazing night, contact me on 027 463 4892 or Masha on 027 635 1122.

Peace!

Late blog post this week!

Exciting News: Rowan and Gill are coming home! This weekend! Looking forward to hearing their stories.

Dalton Lifsey from Tauranga House Of Prayer is speaking at Blueprint today! (most likely about the Joy of God), so come ready to hear an amazing word from God! He will have a few of his books available to purchase at church, and you can read about the book here: http://thecontroversyofzion.com/

Also, it would be awesome if we were able to really bless Dalton, so the cash offering will go directly to him, so come prepared for that.

Should be an amazing night, see you there!
